The Town of Richlands now accepts debit and credit cards for payment. We currently accept Visa and Mastercard with a $3.00 convenience fee for each transaction.

If you are about to have work done to your home or business and would like to check on the status of a business license for the contractor just call Richlands Town Hall at 276-964-2566 with the contractors name and we will give you the status.

Please take advantage of the drop box for any payments, documents, etc. as well as our Automatic payment option (ACH) and credit/debit card payments by phone. Staff will maintain their normal work schedules (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm) to process payments, assist customers by phone and if necessary, will provide curbside service for those customers with issues that cannot be resolved by telephone or drop box. The Town of Richlands received $52,000 from Tazewell County Board of Supervisors thru federal funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia pursuant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”). The Town of Richlands is excited to announce that we will be placing banners of our Veterans in the Town of Richlands. If you are interested in purchasing a Veterans banner the cost is $50. Rebuild VA, which is administered by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD), successfully launched on August 10. SBSD and its program partners, the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Virginia Tourism Corporation, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, made the decision to expand eligibility criteria after analysis of eligible and ineligible applications received within the first 30 days of the launch. PUBLIC NOTICE:

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Town of Richlands is taking action to ensure continuity of all operations and services. As you know, Governor Northam officially announced a State of Emergency last week. The Town is implementing suggested measures while continuing to operate and provide services. Therefore, to ensure the well-being and health of our community and staff we urge all residents/customers to please limit any unnecessary in person transactions and/or visits to town hall and other governmental facilities. We encourage everyone to please take advantage of the drop box for any payments, documents, etc. as well as our Automatic payment option (ACH) and credit/debit card payments by phone. We will also make arrangements for completion of the ACH enrollment form should you wish to enroll in the automatic payment option. The Richlands Town Hall will be closed to the public effective March 24th at 11:59 pm. Until further notice all Public Notices will be posted at the Richlands Police Department at 1851 Cranwell Drive, Richlands, VA 24641.

Beginning December 2020 Town of Richlands utility bills will be printed and mailed to customers from a third-party printing company and will be enclosed in a regular white envelope with the Town of Richlands as the return address on the envelope.

The regularly scheduled Richlands Town Council Meeting time has changed from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. effective August 11, 2020. Richlands Town Council will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

The Town of Richlands has scheduled power outages see below for the information:

Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:45 pm to midnight on the East End of Town in Big Creek, Dalton Addition, and the Center of Town areas.
Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:45 pm to midnight for the entire town.
Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:45 pm to midnight on the West End of Town in Brickyard and Lake Park areas.
Each scheduled power outage should be approximately 15 minutes.


On June 14, 2021, proceedings will be commenced under the authority of § 58.1-3965 et seq. of the Code of Virginia to sell the following parcel(s) for payment of delinquent taxes:
